Sukanya Samrudhi Khatu is the most popular scheme of the Central Government for a good future for your daughter but there is no mistake that can break your daughter's dreams.

This special plan was made for the bright future of the daughters and their marriage. Under which you can deposit Rs 500 to Rs 1.5 lakh for your daughter every year. The current financial year ends on March 31. If you also do not deposit the amount in your daughter's account, you will have to pay a penalty for it. If you don't pay for a long time, your account may be closed.

As a rule, you need to deposit at least Rs. 500 per year to keep the account running. If this amount is not credited then it is considered as default account and later it becomes inactive. After which you have to go to the bank or post office to activate it.

How to activate the account

According to the information provided on the post office's website, if your daughter's Sukanya account is closed, she will have to go to her own post office branch and re-open the account there. At the same time penalty has to be paid.

Open an account for Rs.250

This scheme is a post office based scheme. That means you can open from any post office located anywhere in the country. The special thing is that you have to pay at least 250 rupees. You have to pay this amount for 21 years.

Required documentation

To open an account under Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana, one has to submit the birth certificate of one's daughter at the post office or the nearest bank along with the form. Also the identity card of the girl and parents such as PAN card, ration card, driving license etc. Certificate of place of residence such as passport, electricity bill etc. has to be submitted.

Terms and Conditions

  • The account will mature after 21 years of opening the account but the condition is that if the daughter is married 21 years ago, the account has to be closed at the same time.
  • Earlier only 2 daughters account was opened but now you can also open 3 accounts.

  • An account can be opened if twins are born and 3 girls are born in the first birth.

  • If Rs 250 is not deposited in the account annually, the account will become inactive

  • SSY does not allow the daughter to handle the account until she is 18 years old

  • There is a 100 percent guarantee from the government.
