In the evening, when Team India's Rohit Sharma and Shubhaman Gill were at the crease, the LED lights went off for about a minute and the match of the second session of the first day had to be stopped for some time.

Turn off the lights for a few minutes

In the 12th over of the same innings, the LED lights went off once again, but this time the match was interrupted for a few seconds and the game resumed. It is expected that these problems will not return.

The use of LED lights for the first time in an Indian stadium

For the first time in India, LED lights were installed in the stadium. Earlier, flood lights were being used in all stadiums in India. There are lights on the roof of Narendra Modi Stadium that cover the stands. This is to avoid the shadows of the players. LED lights are an important part of the stadium, which was built at a cost of about Rs 800 crore.

There have also been incidents of lights being turned off in other grounds

However, turning off the lights during the match is nothing new. Earlier, the lights at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata had been turned off several times. In 2009, during the ODI match between India and Sri Lanka (IND vs ENG), the lights were off for about 26 minutes.

What is special about the stadium?

The stadium has been constructed at a cost of over Rs 800 crore

4 dressing rooms have been prepared for the players

The stadium can be watched by a total of 1.10 lakh people

More than the largest stadium in the world, the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Melbourne had a seating capacity of 1 lakh spectators

A total of 76 corporate boxes were also prepared

There are a total of 11 pitches on the ground which were prepared by red and black clay

The height of the flood lights in the ground is 90 meters. That is exactly 25 storeys high building

A sub-surface drainage system was constructed under this ground

In case of rain, the ground can be prepared again in 30 minutes

Apart from cricket, competitions like football, hockey, khokho, kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, netball, tennis, badminton can also be held.
