Learn about this temple in Gujarat. Ghee has been stored in black pots for 600 years

Learn about this temple in Gujarat. Ghee has been stored in black pots for 600 years.

Millions of people bow their heads in faith in this temple of Gujarat.  There is one such temple in Gujarat.  In which ghee has been preserved in 650 black soils for more than 600 years.  This is about 13 to 14 thousand kilos of ghee.  Which neither spoils, nor does it smell, nor does it contain any kind of insects.  This is a matter of faith.

Where is this temple located?

Radhu is a village in Kheda district, 50 km from Ahmedabad.  The village is located on the banks of the river Watrak.  This village is a normal village.  But the temple of Kamnath Mahadev in this village is not ordinary.  People call it a miraculous temple.  The temple houses more than 650 large black clay pots filled with ghee for 620 years.

This ghee has been stored in the temple room for years.  Usually if the ghee stays for a little longer, it will smell or get fungus.  Here in the temple room, for so many years, the ghee stored in the pot under the hot floor in the heat of summer and the cold of winter has remained fresh without any smell.  And this amount of ghee is not even small.  About 13 to 14 thousand kg of ghee is stored here.

The amount of ghee in this Shiva temple never decreases, it increases from above.  It is his tradition that the ghee in the temple is never taken out of the temple.  It is not used for any other purpose.  It is believed that those who do so will suffer a great loss.  It is used in the flames burning in the temple and in the sacrifices performed in the temple premises.  Yet the amount of ghee does not decrease.

Myth attached to the temple

There are many myths behind the accumulation of such a large quantity of ghee.

In Radhu village and surrounding villages, a buffalo or a cow is offered in the temple by making ghee of its first calf after giving birth to a calf at any farmer's house.

How the Ghee tradition began

The temple is said to have been built in 1445.  According to folklore, Mahadevji's Jayot Radha was brought to this temple 600 years ago by Jasangbhai Hirabhai Patel years ago.

Mahadevji's devotee Jasangbhai used to take food every morning only after seeing Mahadev.  One night Jasangbhai had a dream.  In which Mahadevji said, bring me from Punaj village by lighting a lamp.  So the next morning, Jasangbhai reached Punaj village, which is eighty kilometers away from Rudhu, more faithfully than the villagers, and took the lamp with him from there.

It was raining and strong at that time but the lamp remained intact.

Diwani was established in Samvat 17P and a small dairy was built.  Since then, devotees from the surrounding panth, including the village, have come to see Mahadevji.
